Bekah and I celebrated our 5-Year Anniversary this evening with dinner at Shaw's Restaurant and Inn in Lancaster. We highly recommend dining at Shaw's and, if you're able, staying overnight in the Inn. (You'll need to lie down after a 14 oz., perfectly aged prime rib - also highly recommended!)

Our family, along with Robert's family all went to the Wilds – a wild animal conservatory of sorts. It was a gorgeous day, and we all had a great time!

And yet, another county fair... this must be the 'summer of fairs.' Tonight we went to the Muskingum Co. Fair (Zanesville), and Nana was able to join us.

In celebration of Bekah's half birthday, we saw "Beauty and the Beast" at the Weathervane Playhouse here in Newark. They did a bang-up job with it, and we had a great time!

We went to the Knox County Fair - and Clarrisa had her very first pony ride. (She loved it!)

This was maybe our first official "family vacation." We spent a week at a cabin (FernsPlace) in the Smokey Mountains. We had a great time! Some highlights:
- Swimming in the Little River.
- The cool, mountain air.
- Shopping in Gatlinburg; seeing all the artisians and buying lots of early Christmas gifts.
- Spending time with Bekah's family and catching up with cousins.
- Enjoying a visit from Uncle Bill.
- Singing of "fight songs" and "Rocky Top."
- Biking and a little hiking.
- Simply being near and in the mountains.
- Cades Cove - we actually saw a mama Black Bear.
- Bekah finally got to buy here "Indiana Jones" hat.
- And, of course, our Old Time Photos!
- Hanging out on the Crane's new front deck.
- Backing up into Barbara's wood shed with mom and dad's new truck... just kidding. :)

Well, it's become a yearly tradition... off to Chicago again. Bekah spent the good part of a week catching up with friends and introducing Charlie to city life; the family all drove up, while
Robert flew home on Sunday and Bekah and the kids drove back on Thursday.

Robert was able to get out for a quick overnight backpacking trip with Steve - down to the Wildcat Hollow loop here in Ohio. It was a decent 15 mile loop.

We went down to the Creation Museum, and met our good friends, the Nyes, there. After a day at the museum, we spent the rest of the weekend in Louisville with Nick, Brittany and Viola.
