our summer, 2005

What better way to tell you about our summer than with pictures? And we have a lot. Below are just some *highlights* of what's going on with us; not pictured are ongoing things like Robert's work at State Farm, online classes and praise team which are also important of course... And Bekah's full-time job with the boopy scoopy (don't ask us how that name started, because we don't know!), but see Clarissa's page for those updates (except there is an exciting one about her below).

Bekah's cousin Kelly got married this summer to a wonderful guy named Matthew Rogers. Bekah's mom and boyfriend drove down with Bekah and Clarissa, and Robert flew in that night (which was an adventure in itself because his initial flight was canceled and then his bag got lost). It was awesome to see everyone, and Kelly looked beautiful (so did Abby, and Mother-of-the-Bride Barbara...)! We all agree she looked so happy and was positively glowing all day. It all went off without a hitch (except the two people who got hitched, hahaha),

even with all of us doing flower arranging and bouquets!

Congratulations, Kelly and Matthew!

Garrett Wade Plumley entered the world on July 6, 2005 at 12:34 A.M. He weighed in at 9 lbs, 13 oz, beating Clarissa by 5 ounces. Clarissa has a cousin now! The three of us went to Delaware to meet Garrett at the hospital, and he was a cutie! ...Oops, we mean handsome. We are so happy for Doran, Cathy Jo, Ashton and Garrett.

Congratulations, Plumley family!

our new dining room

At long last, the dining room is FINISHED! No more "dining room in the living room" days, where we carried our dinners up and down the stairs to the living room. And boy does it look awesome! Robert did an excellent repairing/painting job, and props to Mom Sagar and Sister Cathy Jo for helping strip wallpaper. The little "reading room" upstairs is next... Bekah's so glad to have a handy husband, even though he's busy! Great job, hon!

tina's visit

Bekah's friend, Tina, flew in from Chicago to visit and meet Clarissa. Tina went to high school with Bekah, and is such a dear friend! It was so fun to have her! We had a blast, and by the end of the visit Clarissa had a new best friend. Well, a new friend anyway. Her mommy is still her best friend, for a little longer anyway. Check out the photos of our exciting Ohio adventures! (Tina -- we went to Legend Hills Orchard last weekend and I thought of you. You should have taken some farmer's market veggies back, since a homegrown potato is $1 there in Chicago!) :)

emergency room visit

Yes, we did have an emergency room visit. Bekah is embarrassed about it, since it involved a little girl falling headfirst off a couch, but Bekah ALMOST got to her in time. Clarissa is not crawling yet, but she can still get into trouble! Everything was fine, but it was good to make sure (we called a nurse hotline and they thought it would be a good idea to go to the emergency room since she hit her head).

The doctors were great, and very kind, telling stories about their little ones falling and wondering out loud how their 5 kids made it as far as they did, etc. The emergency room folks screened her and actually sent us to Urgent Care so technically she never really made it into the "emergency room." But it sounds dramatic! (And it was traumatic...Bekah felt terrible!)

Our friends, The Newhofs, are in Ohio this summer! They are working overseas, and came back for Elisa's sister's wedding and also to get Elisa's bum knee checked out. We got to visit them in Findlay and have fun at Elisa's parents' pool. They are such close friends, and it was a blessing to see them!

beebee rests

This summer BeeBee, Bekah's sweet kitty, passed away. Bekah picked her out in a garage in Oklahoma in 3rd grade, and BeeBee was the runt of the litter. BeeBee would have been 19 in November, and she probably outlived all her litter mates! She lived a good life, and she was glad to live with Bekah again for the past 4 years since Bekah graduated from college. Robert was the first guy to like her, or even pay attention to her. So we are still grieving, but we made a pretty memorial garden in the backyard to remember her. It even has a stone with orange and black and swirls that look like fur (she was the softest kitty ever). We love you, BeeBee!
